Why Do We Say Truth is Stranger than Fiction
Posted On 11/24/2008 19:28:36 by Bodhi

Here we go again...Truth is stranger than fiction. Why? Because we think that reality is what our interpretation of reality is. But reality is way way beyond our greatest, our most intelligent interpretation. We make boxes in our own minds and say reality is this and reality is that and believe ourselves. Look at how science even made a classification of animals. That this is fish, this is reptile, this is amphibian, this is mammal...until the platypus came which is fish, mammal, bird all at the same time. Hahaha then we say platypus is strange just like we say truth is strange because it surpasses our interpretations and classifications. In our society, we make various norms and social relations based on our culture and when some "deviant" thing emerges...some counter cultural phenomenon...we say insane, fool, stupid, strange. But reality is always larger than our culture and our limited ways of thinking. Since we are only human, we face reality through mediums of perception and interpretation. If we were to see reality without mediums and interpretation, we might burn with shock and awe; for we cannot really have a face to face encounter with REALITY. In truth, out there in the cosmos, we are just like little ants living our own little lives and interpreting our own little world which we call reality.

One of my very favorite sayings is, "Reality! What a concept!" by Robin Williams.

If we examine Robin's style of comedy entertainment, it is possible to find part of a child that refused to grow up.

And that's the secret towards finding reality again after age 20, you must go backwards and remember to view the world through the eyes of the child that has not yet been subjected to psychological, sociological, and political conditionings yet.

Reality... Our true reality is stashed inside of a box of 8 colorful crayons. To get it out of there, we must remember how the world appeared to us many years ago when we could still see the world clearly.

Happy Thoughts Bodhi :) Catherine
