Green homes
Posted On 12/05/2006 04:36:11 by veganbob

Virtually no environmental impact, partial to no reliance on outside power, and extremely futuristic are but few of the ways to describe a green home.
I have been investigating earth friendly house structures lately as I am planning on moving out in the next 5 years. I have come up with three sites of interest. The first is www.deltechomes.com. They are a company that specializes in Circular homes and are based out of North Carolina, USA. The designs of Deltec are resistant against some of the strongest winds and harshest weather nature can dish out. Not to mention built incredibly energy efficient. Natural lighting is attained through skylights and intelligently placed windows throughout the home(energy star rated glass of course ) The next home is a little less convention if you would even call the first conventional. The site address is http://www.yurtworks.com/ and they too specialize in round hommes. Although a greater level of customization is offered and pricing for various sizes is offered on the site. I personally enjoy how you can upgrade from stock to extra insulation to super insulation. Next, http://coloradoyurt.reachlocal.net/yurts.htm offers smaller less conventional yurts, as well as tipi's and tents. I found them very interesting but not practical for permanent living. Although the 36 by 36 Tipi could provide a decent amount of space for living for 1 even 2. Although the issue of plumbing and electricity would be quite perplexing and solar panels would be virtually impossible to mount on a tipi. I will end with a different design but still environmentally home at http://www.earthship.com/index.php. This New Mexico based company provides partially subterranean sustainable housing. Solar panels are a big theme and stone is as well. Well this looks to be the most expensive it also seems like it would last the longest of all the mentioned housing types. Each home serves a specific purpose exceptionally well. Visit the links to find out which eco friendly home is for you!
