CAMPAIGN AGAINST WAL-MART, TESCO AND OTHER STORES SELLING AND BUTCHERING LIVE ANIMALS IN CHINA Western multinational chains Wal-Mart, TESCO, Carrefour, and Metro are selling and cruelly butchering live frogs and turtles at their Chinese stores - essentially engaging in practices that would be illegal in their home countries. The suffering of the animals is extreme: turtles may take up to an hour to die, and frogs may be skinned alive. China presently has no animal welfare laws. While animal activists in China are doing their best to get laws passed to protect animals from the worst abuses, western corporations should not be hindering their efforts by serving as the worst possible role models for how animals should be treated. Please ask American and European companies to set a better example by signing these online petitions: Wal-Mart Petition (USA) http://www.petitiononline.com/tortaid1/petition.html TESCO / FRESH & EASY NEIGHBORHOOD MARKET (USA) http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/518761759
