This morning, July 8 2008, the Associated Press is running a story out of San Francisco, California (USA) about a group called, ‘Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco’ (PMCSF). PMCSF wants to rename the Oceanside sewage treatment plant after President George W. Bush.
PMCSF would like to put this name change issue before the California voting public in November and turned in over 10,000 petition names on Monday in support of their cause.
PMCSF is claiming that the name change proposal is…, “a fitting tribute to the outgoing chief executive and the "mess" he'll leave behind.”
To place a matter on the ballets before California voters, the government requires 7,000 registered voter’s signatures to be turned in on a petition. Today as this article is running they are still checking the PMCSF petition of over 10,000 signatures for validity.

When I first saw this article I broke out into an uncontrollable fit of laughter. Leave it to San Francisco to dream up new ways of making us smile. Although, then I started thinking about it… Maybe laughter isn’t an appropriate response from me.
(Ah, but I did laugh! And, it sure felt good while I was doing it.)
Globally, many people have learned to hate all peoples inside of the United States during the George W. Bush reign as our leader. Locally, inside of the United States, there are many unhappy people as well. Some have suffered grave losses over this president hiding facts from the public, and then compromising this situation with open lies and deceit.
To people both globally and locally who have suffered harms through this man, a chance to laugh over a humorous subject like putting the George W. Bush name onto a sewage treatment plant is almost priceless; until we examine personal karma or perhaps the continuing breakdown of respect in this country.
We’re told by our spiritual elders to treat others in the same manner that we would like to be treated. So, it is probably not appropriate for me to be laughing with this San Francisco group that is showing such a keen sense of humor today. Is it?
Yet, I want to laugh. Laughter is a healing emotion. I have been in pain over the Iraq war killing since the first day that it started and many other human and environmental issues that have been addressed in a negative fashion by George W. Bush.
I need to laugh to start my internal healing process. While my laughing urge is running red flags up in my mind as not the right thing to do. This is such a frustrating experience. I like laughing.
So, what do other people here think about this situation? Cast you votes below! Are you for or against naming a water sewage treatment plant after George W. Bush?
