MY question is i just had a baby boy almost 2mths ago and i was wondering how in this terrible society and especially at school , is my boy gonna survive without being mocked and made fun of?? Im scared since hes a boy ive heard they get pressured more by there friends then girls. I just hope the school he goes to makes sure he gets his food , he wont be having real meat on his sandwiches but if he asks me why he cant eat it and otehr kids can , what am i gonna say?? Because the animals suffered for the real meat?? I really dont know can someone give me advice before i get so confused on how to go about this

Hi :)

I raised two girls in a home that didn't follow television teachings.

Food is like drinking, drugs, and smoking. Teach your lessons early so that the words are in the mind when it comes time for your son to make choices. We are just the caretakers for our children, the ultimate choice to do, or not to do is their decision.

Smiles! Then, add a little peanut butter and whole fruit jelly to that sandwich in your mind... make it real gooey. The other kids will be asking their parents why they can't have one of your sandwiches instead of the other way around.

Happy thoughts to you both! Catherine

It's gotta be really hard but you have to follow your heart and trust that everything else will fall into place.  I wish you all the best.

Fortunately, I haven't noticed any challenges with my vegetarian son. He is 6 years old and currently in 1st grade.

I have educated him on the reasons why it is not only compassionate, but healthy to adhere to his diet.

He has always been a vegetarian and it seems that he is influencing other children who are wanting to eat compassionately and healthy as he does.

Many of those whose lives are filled with loving energies and do not follow the norm become leaders for others to follow.

Good luck and thanks for spreading the message of compassionate and healthy eating with your son :)

Type in vegetarian on the web and you will find so much stuff, go to a book store and get a baby book on vegetarian food for babies and u can make you're own baby food. Its not going to be hard really vegetarian is so EASY!

and when he gets old enough to go to school, u can put him in a Seventh-day Adventists school if they have one where u live they are all vegetarians.. Its christian but u don't have to be christian to go there, believe it or not they believe in the  old testement laws,  when in eden there was not any meat to eat... so its for healthy reasons and also being compassionate..

I am not SDA but am Messianic an I take my kids there We have been vegans for a long time.. for a week now we have been eating  vegetarian , no cows milk but I found a great fake meat that has egg whites in it and soy free also.. Its so good I Love it :)

thanks everyone for the useful tips!! I love my fake chicken sandwiches so much i think im addicted for life! YUMMY and no animals had to die for it. I hope and pray my son chooses not to eat meat when hes old enough to make choices of his own. I think everyone would be alot more healthier if we didnt eat meat!! It makes me sick when i smell it because where i work they cook meat for a restaurant and i can smell it all hte way near the register. I work at a gas station/ restaurant/ truck stop where there is meat eaters everywhere! Thanks guys.

My 4 year old son is vegan and has been in daycare and preschool for the last 2.5 years. First thing I did was speak to all of the teachers about what is was to be vegan and make sure they all understand what he can and cannot have. He knows that he is different than the other kids in what he eats. It's hard on him when the other kids are having ice cream and he has to eat something different than the rest of the kids but he trusts that his mom and i have his best interest in mind with his health. And similiar to what Steven said...I believe that he has been somewhat of a positive influence with the other kids and their parents ask me questions.

I would say "be strong and proud of your choice and don't worry too much about your son being made fun of. It will probably happen though and he will need to stand up to that.

I get made fun of daily at work by some of my male co-workers. i laugh with them and back at them. it doesn't bother me.

TEACH HIM WHY ITS GOOD TO BE A VEGITARIAN AND AS U GO ALONG HE WILL END UP MAKING HIS OWN CHOICE IN LIFE. HE MAY GO THRU HARD TIMES BUT MY ADVICE IS TO TEACH HIM WHY ITS GOOD AND THE BENEFITS THAT COME FROM IT. I HAVE A FAMILY WHO ARE MEAT AND POTATOES ALL THE WAY. YOU MAY HAVE TO BAG HIS LUNCHES DUE TO THEM CUTTING SCHOOL BUDGETS AND IT AFFECTS THE FOOD OUR CHILDREN EAT AND THEY ARE REALLY NOT HEALTHY. BOYS AND MEN ARE ON THE RISE AS FAR AS BEING VEGITARIANS. ITS MORE COMMON THAN YOU THINK. GOOD LUCK MY DEAR FRIEND.
IF YOUR NOT PART OF THE SOLUTION YOUR PART OF THE PROBLEM
