I HAVE SUFFERED FROM INSOMIA FOR AWHILE NOW. I WASNT BORN WITH IT. IT JUST CAME OUT OF NO WHERE. LET ME TELL YOU A LIL OF WHAT I DO KNOW. MY WORK IS A HIGH STRESSED JOB AND MY FAMILY IS BIG SO IT TENDS TO BE CHAOTIC SOMETIMES. I KNOW THESE ARE TRIGGERS BUT CONTROL THEM AS WELL AS I CAN. I HAVE DECAFFINATED MYSELF. I RUN ON THE TREAD MILL 40 MINS A DAY IN THE PM. I DONT EAT ANY SWEETS AFTER 5 PM. I HAVE READ BOOKS TAKEN LONG HOT BATHS, WENT FOR WALKS. BEEN TO THE DOCTORS AND THEY WANT TO GIVE ME SLEEPING PILLS THAT I WONT TAKE. I HAVE TRIED MELATONIN AND KAVA AND VALERIAN ROOT AND SLEEP MD. MY SLEEP PATTERNS GO LIKE THIS. I DONT SLEEP FOR 2 DAYS AND CRASH ON THE 3RD DAY. IVE TRIED MEDITATION BUT CANT SEEM TO GET IT DOWN. I HAVE TURNED EVERYTHING OFF IN MY HOUSE AND JUST TRIED CLEARING THE COBWEBS OUT OFMY HEAD BUT MY MIND STILL RACES. I HAVE TRIED IT TO VARITEY OF MUSIC AND I JUST LOVE MUSIC TO MUCH AND IT BREAKS MY CONCENTRATION. IVE BURNED SAGE IN MY HOUSE. SO FAR NO IMPROVEMENT !!!!! ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ???? WHEN I JUST LAY THERE AND TRY TO MAKE MYSELF FALL ALSLEEP I FEEL LIKE A CAGED CAT AND I HAVE TO GET UP. BUT AFTER IM UP WHAT CAN I DO TO GO BACK TO SLEEP ????

My poor sleepy Kellie!

 

I'm in a different boat sorta', I just never have enough time around my jobs to get a good nights sleep, so that every 3rd or 4th day, my body demands down-time despite anything about schedules that I try to say to it. Laughing!!! Mr Wonderful is over being shocked at me nodding out at inappropriate times on my sleep-days; he just makes sure that I don't drown in my soup if my body goes on strike over dinner.

 

Maybe if you try what I do to stay awake in reverse it will help?

 

When I have deadlines to meet, and need to keep going, I play games with myself that require me to do something on a list every 15 minutes. I see the clock, stand, do whatever, sit back down and can stay awake a bit longer.

 

So, maybe, do you have a clock that you are watching? Maybe your mind is thinking that it needs to watch the clock like mine does? If so, maybe try covering it up and not peeking for a few nights until your mind realizes that it can't watch it any more?

It's an idea.

 

I agree with you on those pills. Yuck! There has to be a different way and it sounds like you've tried all of the common ways. I don't suppose you're one of those people that caffeine hits in reverse? I met one of them once. Two cups of coffee and they were zonked out for the duration. So Strange!

THATS A GOOD IDEA !! I DO WATCH THE CLOCK ALOT AND GET FREAKED AS IT GETS LATER AND I GET MYSELF MORE WORKED UP. ILL TRY IT  THANXS FOR THE SUGGESTION !!!
